On October 30th 2013, during an official ceremony which took place at Rideau Hall, Ottawa , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Canada His Excellency Nikolay Milkov presented his credentials to His Excellency the Right Honorable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.

At the beginning of the ceremony, the Governor General stressed the excellent bilateral relations and noted that Bulgaria and Canada are friendly countries with common values, a solid foundation for development and intensification of the cooperation between our two countries.

In his turn, the Bulgarian Ambassador demonstrated the opportunities for economic cooperation between the two countries at bilateral level. In his speech, he focused on to increase Canadian investments in Bulgaria, the interaction within NATO, OSCE and other international organizations promoting peace and global security, while expanding and facilitating human contact in areas with high potential for future cooperation.

In this context, the Governor General David Johnston and Ambassador Nikolay Milkov agreed that the signing of an economic agreement between the EU and Canada would create favorable conditions for the realization of these priorities.
